Come On Baby Light My Fire!

It all started with a stream of smoke...well...actually, it all started with making friends before the move. We needed to know the ins & outs of the hood... the best places to wine & dine, and of course to shop...oh wait, and live! What is a better way to find friends than by joining the free online dating website Plenty Of Fish?! You can only guess where this is going.

We were using the advice from these LA guys to educate us while we were still in GA. When we got to LA we decided to take Robby up on his offer to tour us around our favorite town, Santa Monica. Robs was a great addition to the trio, he even dog sat Kona! After a day of watching football in Venice ( GOOOOOO DAWGS!!) we decided to rest at Robs apartment on 4th & Montana.

Emily couldn't sit still, she had to get out. After dropping off Kona and a few pieces of luggage, Robs made a few calls and ba-da-bing! Within 5 minutes we were walking to a party on 11th & Arizona. As we arrived, we were greeted with a huge circle of new BFF's: Raman, Ashley, Travis, Dave, Dustin, Jimmy, Scott, Alex, and Jeremy.

After some interesting/hilarious convos, we came up on the topic of house hunting. Raman explained how he had an extra room in his house and Erin immediately jumped on the offer to go see the third floor of this phat pad. Erin grabbed Emily's hand and we were off. As we were admiring our new patio, Erin suddenly fell through the hammock! Emily said, "Wow Erin, what did you eat for dinner?" Erin corrected Emily and said, "I know I don't weigh that much!"

Then Erin came to her senses. The strings of the hammock were singed. "Uh Raman, just letting you know that your house is on fire." Raman frantically chanted "TECATEEEEE" and threw his beverage on the the smoke. Firefighter Erin reminded Raman that water would be a better idea, so they headed for the sink while Emily casually strolled downstairs to hang with the new friends.

As Emily sat down next to Robs (AKA the party finder) Emily nonchalantly mentioned that Erin was putting out a fire upstairs in Raman's room. Thats when Robs exclaimed "Oh, is that what you call it...putting out a fire? Yeah right." Emily calmly responded, "Robs, the house is on fire." Robs had enough, he quickly grabbed his keys, jumped the fence, and dissapeared with the thought of Erin upstairs with Raman in his mind.

As Firerfighter Erin strolled down the stairs, she caught a glimpse of Robs leaping over the fence. She skipped through the kitchen and yelled, "Did anyone tell you guys that I found a fire upstairs?!" They all replied, "NO!" and easy going Emily said, "Yes! I told ya'll an hour ago!" The group said, "You were serious? Why the heck are you so calm if the house is burning down?!" Emily said, "I am calm in any situation!"

Emily decided it was time for a drink, but not Tecate, vodka! Erin had a vodka drink so Emily asked Erin if she could have one too. We didn't want to be rude, so Erin said, "I'll have Scott make you one." Emily said, "Erin! His name is Shawn!" Erin said, "Ayy Shawn, can you please makes Ems one of these drinks that you made me?" Shawn looked at Erin as he had two large pots in his hand and said," Um Erin, my name is Scott, and I am in the middle of putting out a fire!" Erin said, "Emily! I told you his name was Scott!" Emily said, "No worries, I'll get my own drink!" and the crew was off to the local French Quarter lounge "Renee's".

As we were walking out of the door, the biggest fire truck was pulling up in front of the house. Definitely time to dip! On the walk to the bar the group was singing their favorite fire songs: Rock Master Scott and The Dynamic Three's "The roof the roof the roof is on fiyahhhh", Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire", and of course Emily added her favorite "Fireman" by Lil Wayne (Shout Out to Weezy F Baby!)

As they arrived at Renee's, Erin couldn't erase the memory of losing Robby. Since Erin left her phone at Robby's, she borrowed his friend Jeremy's phone to text him and see where he went. She then picked up her Blueberry Stoli & soda and squeezed the lime to make it more delish. All of a sudden, the beast of Jeremy unravelled. For no reason, he yelled at her. The lime then slipped out of Erin's hand and landed directly in the middle of Jeremy's forehead. Good aim!

For the remaineder of the night Erin greived from the loss of Robby, and peace keeper Emily mended the Jeremy and Erin relationship. After another round, Jeremy walked up to Emily and told her that Robby was going to the valley and he wanted to speak with her on the phone to decide where to put the luggage and Kona that was left at his house. Because he was mad he said he was leaving everything in the parking garage so we could grab it on the way home. It was time to leave the bar!

As we were walking home, the smell of delicious pizza caught everyones attention so we made a pit stop. Then Jimmy's bestie Erwin appeared fashionably late. All of a sudden the beast of Jeremy was released again. He grabbed the pepper shaker, ran outside, and began to fight...he was in desperate need of some calming cream! Emily, Erin and Dave decided to stay at the table to eat the tomato basil amazingness, while the others joined in on the fight. Peace keeper Emily went outside to end the fight and we all hopped into Erwin's 525i Beemer and made dash back to 4th & Montana to rescue Kona and bring him to our new fav hangout, Ramans. (Shout out to Raman for always making his place feel like ours. Luv ~ xoxo)

After arriving back with a car full of our things, Scott and Raman filled us in on what we missed out on. We all passed out on the couches, exhausted from the fumes!

After a night of much needed sleep, we grabbed all of our luggage and Kona, and walked 14 blocks to our car looking like hot messes. We lost one friendship (that lasted a week and a half) due to jealousy, but gained a dozen more that will last a lifetime! Cheers!

Adios Newport Beach!

Newport Beach: In between Huntington Beach & Laguna Beach. Every city in California has a different vibe. Newport is a young adult, laid back atmosphere where they wake up, chillin out, maxin, relaxin all cool, shootin some b-ball outside of the beach school (Shout Out to DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince). The local Elementary school is directly on the beach & the students are literally playing in the sand during recess! Can you imagine growing up in this California lifestyle? If we ever decide to become mothers, this is the place they will be raised! As beautiful as Newport is, it is not LA! It is very suburban, they go to the same local bars nightly, and hang out with the same people. YAWWNNNNSSSSS! (Shout out to Jims AKA Jimmy Wei for adding this new word to our vocabulary!)

Shout Outs:
Tim:  Although our jobs at the dispensary didn’t work out, hit us up if you need help with the trimming! Ohhhh snap Farmer Erin is back!!
Drummer Dave: Best tour guide ever for 2 blonde Georgian girls- forget the red heads, I’ll take the blondes! “We went to DTLA for the Burning Man Decompression party… it sucked. Then we went to this warehouse party and it was awesome! Then I tried to sleep but it didn’t work so I woke up and went to Moonshadows  and drank a mojito & champagne. Now I’m at Froggy’s in Topanga Canyon it’s kinda cool I’m drinking some wine. And then I’m going to go to El Cholo to eat some Mexican food, then I’m gonna take a nap. That’s my Sunday. Cheers!” Best Sunday Funday ever! "Don't worry guys, we're in Topanga!"

Dan D-Boss: Who would have thought from a night of turtle racing to a Breast Cancer Benefit that Erin would be strutting around with the cowgirl boots of her dreams! (Heel + Turquoise Designs = Total Hotness!) Heel, toe, dosey doe, come on baby…Cuz these boots are made for walkin, & that’s  just what they’ll do…Come on boots, start walkin!

A very special shout out to Jenn & Mark for opening up their home to us (1 block from the beach)! It was an amazing 3 weeks! We would never been able to survive the move without  you guys! This definitely won’t be our last time in Newport! Cheers! Xo

Priorities!

Woooooh-wii! What a week! After spending our first night in LA at a hotel, we decided to get down to business and make this town feel like our new stomping ground. Our first priority was to find an area we liked best. Our top choices to live included the coastal areas of Marina del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, & Redondo Beach. Marina del Rey- much older crowd. Redondo- too similar to Daytona. The houses on the hill in Playa Vista were a possibility. But after a quick loop around the South Bay, we quickly narrowed it down. BINGO! Santa Monica! The boutiques and the shopping, the rows of palm trees, the pier, the location to the freeway, and of course the eye candy ;-P (Shout out to all the hotties on their terraces, riding bikes, grocery shopping, surfing, working the ca$h register, driving around & walking the streets)

First stop: Starbucks on 7th & Montana. Time to find a place to live. Outside seating for Sir Kona, WiFi, & the entertainment. We grabbed an iced coffee, fired up the laptop & got to work on our blog, of course. We finally were able to post it, then the computer battery died. Charging it with Kona was not an option, so we left Starbucks (still homeless). Since we had no where to go, we pulled into a Taco Bell parking lot in Venice & decided to take up surfing. Couch surfing that is! (Shout out to Steve. xoxo- Oprah & Gale) We contacted our few LA connections in hopes to find a couch for the night. After an hour of no returned text messages our good friend Jenn in Orange County said to get our booties over to her place immediately. We accepted & we were on our way to OC for the night.

To be continued...
